COLLABORATION: TWO OR MORE ORGANIZATIONS WORKING TOGETHER TOWARDS A MUTUAL GOALS.In today’s competitive environment, nonprofit organizations, and other community-based organizations are increasingly working together for greater impact. Collaboration offers an opportunity to leverage resources and achieve objectives beyond what a single organization can accomplish in isolation. Yet, uniting a group of organizations in support of a common goal presents its own set of challenges.
Every organization has its own mission, values, culture, policies, budget constraints, capabilities, and limitations. It takes strong leadership to work together for common outcomes. A mutually beneficial relationship entered into by two or more organizations to achieve common goals.
Currently, community based organizations are being challenged to meet the need of the increasing offender populations and their families.
Traditionally, community based organizations have operated in a vacuum by providing services geared to one or two of the above-mentioned services with little or no collaboration with other organizations providing services to the offender returning from incarceration.
Evidence-based principles now signal the need to change the way business have been conducted. It has been determined that the strength of the service delivery can be leveraged exponentially by developing alliances between organizations whom share common goals. We’ve designed an assessment tool which will garner and encourage a sharing of ideas between your organization and allied agencies. To achieve success, it is essential that the following steps are developed, implemented as appropriate for your organization:
Collaboration- Teleconference with key decision makers from alliance partners
- Assess the individual needs of each alliance partner, looking for shared goals, and commonalities
- Cross Organizational Conflict Resolution
- Train employees in creating collaborative alliances with allied agencies and organization
- Review MOU's and other collaboration agreements
- Provide follow-up with alliance partners and other collateral parties
- Assess information received a prepare preliminary report document findings
- Arrange teleconference with alliance partners and other collateral parties to discuss preliminary report
- Present final report documenting agreements, findings, recommendations and collaboration development solution
